OUR COMMUNITY

The Greater Shady Grove Civic Alliance is concerned about social and government events that impact our residents. Our Communities span the Shady Grove Metro area including Candlewood, Cashell Estates, Derwood Station, Edinburgh, King Farm, Mill Creek Towne, Needwood Estates, Old Derwood, Park Overlook, Parkside Estates, Washington Grove, Amity Drive and greater Derwood neighborhoods. This includes areas in three Montgomery County Master Plans: Shady Grove, Unincorporated Gaithersburg, and Upper Rock Creek.

OUR MISSION

To educate and inform citizens of the Greater Shady Grove area on matters of public concern and to act on matters of common interest in a manner consistent with positions approved by the membership.

RECENT ALLIANCE ACTIVITIES

• Providing input to and monitoring of the Shady Grove Sector Plan focused on the Shady Grove Metro Station and Crabbs Branch Way areas.

• Working with county and state officials on the ICC, Shady Grove Road sound barriers, and Redland Road expansion.

• Holding forums with public officials and state legislators on topics affecting the community including school overcrowding, trash pickup, traffic, Metro, housing, streetscape, and more.

• Keeping the community apprised of issues and events through our monthly newsletter and e-mails.
