TOPIC - DEVELOPMENT OF METRO AREA
The first meeting of the Greater Shady Grove Civic Alliance for the 2009 - 2010 year will be about the proposed development of the area around the Metro. Joshua Sloan from Park and Planning will present the plans for one of the first housing complexes that has been submitted since the approval of the Shady Grove Sector Plan. The housing complex is located in old Derwood.

A representative from the General Services office of the county has also been asked to come to show us the plans for the recommended relocated Ride On maintenance and bus depot at the intersection of Crabbs Branch and Shady Grove Road in the vacant field across from the Grove shopping area.

The development of the Metro area affects all of us currently living in Derwood. If it is done well it will enhance the Derwood community. If it is done poorly it will create an undesirable community. Come and see what is being planned so you can respond to our elected officials with your support or with your objections. Now is the time! After it is built it will be too late!

The Greater Shady Grove Civic Alliance was formed and continues to work to represent to our elected officials what is in the best interest of the Derwood community. We encourage your active participation at our meetings so that we may accurately represent the views and concerns of the community.

MEMBERSHIP
Please send in your membership for the upcoming 2009 – 2010 year. We rely on membership fees to defray the cost of renting the school for our meetings. The Alliance exists to represent the interests of the community. Your membership and vote are important for us to accurately fulfill that role. Only paid members are allowed to vote in accordance with our bylaws. Please fill out the form below and bring it with you to the September meeting or mail it to the address below.
