Dear Mr. Botwin:

Councilmember Andrews asked me to thank you for your timely
e-mail on behalf of the Shady Grove Civic Alliance just before the
County Council took final action on the Shady Grove Sector Plan.  The
information you provided, including the Alliance's support of
Councilmember Andrews' efforts regarding the intersection of Gude Drive
and Route 355, was greatly appreciated by him.
The Councilmember also wants the Alliance to be aware of the
County Executive's proposed drastic cut of funding for the Highway Noise
Abatement program as part of Fiscal Years 2007-2012 Capital Improvements
Program.  I've attached a copy of the County Executive's recommendation
for your information.  The support of the Alliance in establishing this
program, as part of the effort to address the impact of road noise from
Shady Grove Road on area residents, was critical in creating this
important program.  The Alliance's help in now fighting this proposed
drastic cut in funding is also critical.  The County Council's CIP
public hearings are the week of February 6th.  In addition to signing up
to testify by calling Ms. Delphine Harriston of the Council's central
staff at (240) 777-7931, e-mails to Council President Leventhal
Councilmember.Leventhal@montgomerycountymd.gov and Transportation &
Environment Committee Chair Nancy Floreen councilmember.floreen@montgomerycountymd.gov
are needed.

I hope this information is helpful.  Thank you for your help
in alerting the Alliance membership to this situation.

Best Wishes,
David Hondowicz
Office of Councilmember Phil Andrews
